Return of the Monster

"I used to dream every night, now I never dream at all.
I'm hopin' that it's cause I'm livin' everything I want" - Childish Gambino, "Outside"

Wow it has been quite some time since I've updated this thing.  I guess that is the way of the world.  I get swept up and feel I need to voice my thoughts.  Then it turns out that there isn't really anything that other people need to hear.  The reason this is being updated right now is because there are things that need to be said.

So musically, nothing has changed in the past few months.  There aren't any new artists that I'm clamoring to listen to.  Anything new albums that have come out, have gone by without me noticing.  I guess you can say I've been stuck in a rut.  While I still jam out during my walk to work, I haven't really listened to music at the crib.  If anyone has any suggestions I'm open to all comers.

Also I'm still playing Mario Brothers and drinking copious amounts of alcohol.  Here are 10 songs I listen to religiously while playing Super Mario World or Super Street Fighter II... (by the way I'm not going for the best sound quality in these songs so be fore warned)

1)  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-NBHS3FtQ20&feature=related  - Foo Fighters "The Pretender".  The opening dynamic song that starts off Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace.  It is the epitome of what happens when this band chooses to rock our socks off.

2) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W3hNxWKUnwo - The Roots "The Next Movement". There isn't a song I've ever anticipated more, than when I was finally blessed to see The Legendary Roots Crew play live.  This song isn't their greatest by far, but for some reason it just gives me a pant full of bone whenever it plays.

3) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3iXMhphebGI - Tool "H".   There are so many Tool songs that I've listened to, that I haven't really "listened" to.  When I finally began to hear the lyrics it reminded me of why this is undoubtedly my favorite band.

4) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1VaveOTQEZg - Michael Jackson "Wanna Be Started Something".  I don't need to say anything about this song.

5) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zyC11nyUyjg - Eminem "Cold Wind Blows".  Mr. Mathers' triumphant return to his glory days just makes me want to stand up and destroy anyone who crosses my path.  He's so angry and his flow is so wicked.  It's the best of both words.

6) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d1RcRglBaHA - Darryl Hall and John Oates "Out of Touch". Um, I can't really explain why I have an infatuation with these gentlemen.  All I know is that their hits get me moving.

7) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NzdUy90vTuk - Living Colour "Cult of Personality".  Literally one of the most underrated awesome songs of all time.

8) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EQ0iE-t210w - Men at Work "Who Can It Be Now".  The title alone says all that needs to be said. Who Can it be Now?

9) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JJpmK5ELR20 - Tenacious D "History".  Continual proof why Jack Black needs to stick to making music as opposed to starring in bonafide dog shit like Gulliver's Travels.  The only part of that movie I enjoyed was Jason Segel. He's my male fanboy crush.

10)  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ofFVDLb1wQ  - Method Man and Redman "Da Rockwilder". This is one of the best songs I've heard by two rappers who decided to make a full blown collaboration.  I can give props to some songs by other artists but honestly it seems like Meth and Red were meant to be a duo.  Plus the beat is hot.

I think this is officially random enough to post.

"Never forgotten, always in my heart"
"Thinking of the day, when you went away.  What a life to take, what a bond to break.  I'll be missing you"

I miss you, and that's just being real with you.
